Yasumichi Morita (born in 1967, lives and works in Japan) is one of Japan's most revered interior designers, who has branched out with international projects in Hong Kong, New York, London, Paris and Doha. Morita has been successfully displaying his talents across a wide variety of graphics and products. His creative work includes a range of mediums such as sculpture, installation, and photography. As a photographer he has established an acclaimed body of work inspired by both minimalism and high technology.

As an interior designer, his day-to-day work involves cutting out angles of light and shadow. On the other hand, photography goes in the opposite direction - collapsing a three-dimensional object onto a flat surface. Morita is conscious that this transformation is a capturing of the moment where minimalism becomes a rich delusion. In this realm, Morita creates space by giving depth to flat surfaces.

His photographs question our perception and often generate an evolving ambiguous image open for the interpretation of the audience. For example, in Porcelain Nude (2015-2016), Crystallization (2018), or his series billion (2016).

Morita’s work has been shown in various acclaimed galleries and art fairs internationally, including Taka Ishii Gallery (Tokyo), Paris Photo at Grand Palais (Paris), Galerie-Musée Baccarat (Paris), Galerie Yoshii
(Paris), Galerie Corrazza 1787 (Paris), Art Salon SCÈNE (Tokyo), Art Photo Tokyo (Tokyo), and Daikanyama Photo Fair (Tokyo) among others.
